This 97-mile (115 kilometres) route links places associated with St Oswald, a 7 th century king of Northumbria, who had close ties with the monastic community on Lindisfarne. Beginning on Holy Island with its fairytale castle, the trail travels across beautiful coast and country to Heavenfield and Hadrian’s Wall in the south. The 103-mile (166 km) route is deeply entwined with religious history and classed as a pilgrimage. From Holy Island to Warkworth alongside stunning coastline, and then inland towards Hadrian's Wall. St Oswald’s Way route. It’s possible to combine St Oswald’s Way with St Cuthbert’s Way to continue north into Scotland.
